Time Be Still
Time be Still
Time be still,
do as I say.
Freeze this moment,
force it to stay.
It went too quick,
a blur in my eyes.
I closed them once,
and it passed me by.
Stop it I pray,
slow to a crawl.
Let memories set,
before I lose them all.
But you can’t stop time,
it’s unforgiving.
It neither stops for the dead,
nor for the living.
Moments quickly fade
as you push against that clock.
Silence follows closely
on memories that have no lock.
Time, that pompous bastard,
laughs at my puny pleas.
Cold and indifferent
as it flows into eternity.
