Time and Trauma
I have been through many turbulent things in life
I consider myself a survivor, through the years
Trauma has no time limits as it molds the mind to replay
Memories can be repressed or they can be relived
Depending on the ability to cope with them
Much healing can come from releasing feelings
That may have been frozen for quite a while
It’s easy to say, things are to be left in the past
As if you can put them, where you want them to be
But, the mind and spirit still absorbed the impact
Scars can remain that others cannot see
Facing the truth head-on can strengthen one’s being
But, we are never immune to be weakened again
Turning things into positive creations, helps the most
Because what we experience gives us tools to work with
For the most amazing, positive things to happen
That without such experiences, may not happen at all
No matter what you have been through in time,
There is always something remarkable that can be done
When we differentiate the pain from a new outcome,
The trauma from who we are, the memories from the present
Time is a beautiful thing, as it becomes a gift to receive
In our approach of acceptance with the here and now
All in what we choose to do, the moment we open it
