Time and Again

Time and time again you say
hurtful things that make my love sway.

I try to ignore the words that pour
like boiling water that scalds and more.

The heat of the moment has come and gone
like dew outside on the morning lawn.

And once again a rip in my heart
from your cold words that fly like a dart.

One more scar heals
and another strip peels.

Will you ever know how you're hurting me
with your dagger like words on a hot lava sea.

Or will it be too late by far
when you notice you're living your own little war.
