Time

Time (Based of Hans Zimmer's Time)
Down the day, great heroes spent and spilt
An eternity of flight and fight and courage.
I hear them singing- but only for a moment.
Must I open my eyes? My oh so heavy eyes

The needed breath of light washes out my outer dirt,
but still remain the frightened faces, like scars
wrapped around my mad mind- it shrieks
for a fleeting escape to calm lands unknown, serenity calls.

But the glory plays on much like hope never dies
and I will march on with soaring strength to no match
for victory is behind me with the dark and demons
And left for me only, is light and freedom

Reason rarely runs, but as I steady stride
the victor’s way, away my thoughts slip.
Like fantasy’s fledgling my reality is true not,
surreal to some, fake to most, but headstrong I stare into life

Is there something I have missed, lost along the weary way?
For gaps and holes break the focus of my mind
and my gilded history feels ever far behind
Tears supplant my missing memories unfound.

And my steps tick on, though each second is too long
So why does a smile find my face now?
The journey isn’t yet complete, and somehow I know
I have met my fate, and at last I can go.
