Till Death Do Us Part
It was a day full of joy,
A contingent of people witnessed,
When the vows were openly said,
Crowned with the infamous phrase,
“Till death do us part”
Yes, it’s only death that does part.
Death of love,
When love left us,
We were no longer one,
But two souls under one roof,
With names signed in a certificate,
Sharing children who are in the dark.
Death of trust,
The faith and security faded away,
Due to the reckless breaking of trust,
Just like hot butter in a toast,
The growing embers of untrustworthy,
Melted the faith we had in each other.
Death of finance,
My gambling addiction come to play,
Followed by extended periods of debt,
Leading to our perennial disagreement,
Driving the union in tatters.
Death of compatibility,
You were a morning person,
I wasn’t,
You were a couch potato
I wasn’t,
This was already dead and buried.
Death of communication,
The line of thoughts gradually changed,
Needs couldn’t be comprehended,
Different values and feelings bore frustrations,
Leading to honest lies,
Surely, "death" did us part.
