Tiger Shark

In our oceans and sea's In climate's warm Second to one In it's striped form This predatory shark Alone in the night This solitary hunter With it's razor bite Feasting on fish Seal's and birds This creature of nature Number two in it's world When we enter their domain Aliens we are When they attack us humans We go to far Retribution, is on our minds To deal with a killing living kind It's not like they can come on land But if they did Would we understand Its blue green body Yellow underside Another gem In nature's pride Who live and die In their watery parks The Tiger Shark

Great write about a terrifying creature. They are very common in the Gulf of Mexico and I hate having "encounters" with them. Caught a 15-foot tiger shark once. For nearly half an hour, I was trying to get it to the surface. It was "playing" with me. As soon as I could see it, it barreled forward and stipped my fishing line. Your poem does the tiger shark's predatory nature justice. Excellent work! Love, Carolyn

James excellent poem with an excellent point - I find it rather odd that man the greatest killer of all Gods creatures has the arrogance to presume judging another creature for killing when they simply kill to survive - We kill for sport and sadly enough often we just kill to kill with no reason at all - God Bless, mj
