Thus, Without You

What are these scenes
The vibrant bluest of skies
Blackest of dark night
If, I be blind
And cannot see

What about the melodies
Twilights oft blowing breeze
Or, that of morning songs dear
If, I be deaf
And cannot hear

What of touch
The sun upon skin
Or, dew upon heel
If I be paralyzed
And I cannot feel

Where are ‘tis words
If lost among poets
Or wisdom in ages, withering
If, I be mute
And cannot quote them

Lastly, passions, infatuations
In deepest loves free
Or gone, unto ardent sorrows
If a man
Merely, I cannot be

Then, thrust in the dagger
Cut out ‘tis heart
And banish mine soul

For, if I merely exist
Thus, without your love
I cannot live or as whole

Then, from this world
But, one lone wish
Please, grant me this
That I shall not again ever be
