Thunder For Roses

There away from house and road
fields of stone and wooden fence
patch of thorny bushy rose
Gray cloud flying passes by
gates of iron castle high
mountain spring beside the rise
cool thirst drowned on bent knee
cupped my hands trod maple leaf
lightning flicker bright light flash
then a rumble thunder clash
trickle then a drop does fall
on thorn and thistle one and all
