Through These Old Tired Eyes
Younger days and younger ways
are buried in my past.
Some things I treasured years ago
were never meant to last.
Faces and places from long ago,
seems now, I no longer prize.
Yeah, things look somehow different now
through these old tired eyes.
Summer days, so full of fun
gave way to autumn's call.
What winter holds in store for me
is hidden from us all.
If there were anything I'd change,
I'll have you realize --
I'd like to see those summer days
through these old tired eyes.
These old tired eyes
may not have seen it all.
but they're content, to some extent,
with what they do recall.
It all amounts to simply this --
my past, I can't revise --
but, I'd like to see it one more time --
through these old tired eyes.
