Through the Eyes of a Child

Through the eyes of a child a new belief is born
dad has left home and that is why mommy sighs
the fridge is bare sometimes all they eat is corn
must be my fault she thinks that is why mom cries

Her studies are becoming harder every day
there are duties to share and supper to make
she's lost some weight and she's thin as a rake
must be mom's fault, that is why dad went away

Little brother is angry, he balls up with a fist
the rent is late and the money jar un-steady
she ties a string around her bony little wrist
must be God's fault, the cupboard is empty

Through the eyes of a child truth can be a bitter pill,
she weeps as a flower wilts, over by the window sill.

This is so heart felt and very tender. We feel the child's torment. Great job
