Through It All

It’s never been an easy thing,
To keep your head above the surface.
When hurts all you’re receiving,
And you couldn’t find a safe place.

But I know you never gave in,
Even through the roughest of it all.
And I don’t know if you expected to be forgiven,
For making us stand so tall.

But I hope you’re sure,
With no shadow of a doubt.
I’ve loved you all the further,
For everything we went without.

And all I know to say, is let it be the way it wants to be.
And dad, I hope you know, you mean everything to me.
