THROUGH A STORM

The lightning flashed, the thunder crashed.
Back then in struck fear in me.
I was petrified, where could I hide,
Apart from that old oak tree?
And, knowing my luck, the tree could be struck
And I knew that I could too.
But, come what may, I could not walk away,
For under the tree stood you.
And, there in the rain, though I couldn’t explain,
I knew we were meant to meet.
We chatted a while and oh that smile
Somehow made my day complete.
A break in the weather; we left together.
That brief storm had changed my life.
Now we celebrate that chance first date.
Ten years we’ve been man and wife.
When lightning flashes and thunder crashes,
I’m not afraid anymore
Together we stand outside hand-in-hand
And give thanks to great god Thor.

A wonderful write. The lines with internal rhyming gives your poem a bounce to the rhythm. A lovely romance Bryn. :-D
