Three Years

I never thought it would be
you.
How I feel shouldn't be this
way, never knew.
Never expected it to come.
Three years gone and you still
toy with me.
You manipulate my heart until I
scream,
you control even my dreams.
I've spent hours of my time
going over what could've been.
Thousands of minutes on way
back when.
I have tried to forget what just
won't erase.
It takes all of me not to remove
that space.
Countless tears and storms that
continue to take control.
Three years and I've not gotten
far from your grip,
you still love to take hold.
What can't I leave?
You stole my dreams and
stomped on my confidence.
I haven't been strong since.
Just please let go!
I never knew it would be you.
