Three Words

A phrase said many times before Feels intimidating with you. It could be because it is true Or because I value you Too much to take a risk. I helplessly want to utter Three short words. My lips My tongue Refuse. Let it out. Let her hear. I can not. I push and as The words nearly form I halt. This is a never-ending battle. I think of what would happen. She could ask me To repeat. Say she understands. "I know." Finally, No more avoidance. "I am sorry." "Me too."

This reminds me of a little boy who threw himself into my arms today apologizing, with tears, and I had no idea what he did. I still do not know, but I consoled him. "I am sorry" is so hard!
