Three Realities

Three realities there are: the reality of dreams, the reality of life, and, though some dispute, the reality of eternity.... The world of our dreams is as real as mortal life-- each dream recalled but a fraction of myriad forgotten. Yet in every dream we live! We act, the hero or the fearful, as we move in those dreams-- perhaps luxuriantly soaring like a human eagle o'er hill and dale, town and city, feeling freer than we've ever felt in the life of day and night. Or maybe we drive a car far faster than we'd ever dare when awake in a prosaic world limited by cause and effect-- and always we defeat villains, overcome the absurd, and bring beauty to love.... In the daylight reality of life, we sweat and toil, hate and love, destroy and create. Never really sure why for any of it, are we? Each of us acts out our roles, almost like animated puppets it seems at times--until we are abruptly yanked off the stage. Then--only then--will we realize it was all just a bit part, like some walk-on role, and the real drama has finally begun as we enter (some in glory, some in shame) the last reality-- Eternity....

Wise surmise and observation, Len. As always your writing sets me thinking along interesting lines. What more could I ask from a poet?

And that, my friend, is the best compliment a poet can get!
