Three Mile Island

This was the first of its kind in history. However, nobody was killed here, thankfully. We were just able to avoid a great catastrophe. A nuclear power plant is situated in Pennsylvania. It lies on an island on the river called Susquehanna. Supplying electricity to the region is its chore. The river water is needed to cool the nuclear reactor core. A malfunction led to a partial core meltdown. Increased radioactivity could have threatened a nearby town. This is one of the dangers of modern technology. There could be a high price paid by you and me. Thanks to wikipedia.org online encyclopedia for information I obtained to write this poem.

Excellent write. We are very fortunate indeed to have avoided a catastrophe like the one in Chernobyl and Fukushima. But I do not think we are immune to such and accident. Thanks for sharing this always timely poem.
