Three Loves: Part 2

Secondly I had loved a man much better
Than the first who had left me so bitter.
He was as much a genius, a pipefitter,
But eventually I fell out of love years later.

He was more dedicated to his work though,
To the point I felt out of his lifestyle's flow.
He made me feel lonely at home eventually,
So I tried to return to my first, unfortunately.

Then his controlling nature showed more,
But I was so codependent I could never soar.
Our love had slowly but surely dissipated,
As I began to lose belief in love being fated.

I know the way I left both had hurt them,
But to be fair I was addicted to their venom:
Their possessiveness, their need for control,
I tolerated it all to the point it took its toll.
