Three Kittens Discuss Shoes

Three kittens played outside one day.
“How come,” said one, “we don’t wear shoes
Like little human boys and girls
And run around back yards?”

“If we had shoes, we’d have to lace
Them up,” another said, “each day
And if we got them all muddied,
We’d have to clean them off again.”

The third kitten said, “We’d have to
Polish them whenever they got
Dirty looking from out playing
Around in peoples’ gardens.”

The three agreed they didn’t need
Human shoes to wear while playing.
Just have fun till each day got done
And be happy like they were.
