Three Fifty Four Precisely

Up before dawn
On this sixth July morn
My eyes are still firmly closed
I make my way sleepily
To my west facing balcony
Adorned in warm fleecy robe
Gently rubbing the sleep
From my half open eyes
Looking forward to
my morning surprise

Lighting up the sky
She is glistening so brightly
Her celestial beam illuminates
enticingly it's drawing me
along her silvery highway
My soul may walk it one day

Jupiter is gleaming
In the sky to her right
For this celestial pair
Make such a fabulous sight
I’m in love as I swoon
At Jupiter and the Moon
Witnessing their cosmic delight

But tonight very soon
Another treat awaits me
at three fifty four precisely
Arriving west south westerly
silently gliding through the sky
just two fifty miles from you and I
To my delight on this magical night
the International Space Station I will espy

Waving with glee
my soul does a dance
and I wonder perchance
as I gaze from my balcony
are astronauts waving back at me…

I imagine they were waving like mad. If they were not, then it does not matter for you had a lovely day without their waves.

What a great thought Caren, though they may have been rather busy flying the thing, haha... It was so exciting to see even though it's so high in the sky, but soon I will have my own telescope (a present from my grandson) and then, wow, I will probably see what they are eating for brekkie, haha. Celestial greetings my friend from Ann xx

Ann, I enjoyed this delightful poem and experience you described so well. You may also have seen Saturn, as it is bright and somewhat close to Jupiter these days. Later this year in December they will be so close you can't see them apart. Worth checking out.

So glad you enjoyed my poem Eric, unfortunately in the UK we are unable to see Saturn as it is below the meridian, however, hopefully this will change. Wow I did not know about December, so will certainly keep my eyes open for that. Thank you Eric. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Waving at you with congratulations on your wonderfully creative poem, Ann! Beautiful description of morning and then the added bonus of seeing the space station! Not being a morning person, I would have missed this sight except for your poem!

...I was about to go to bed when I remembered it was a full moon, so I rushed to open the blind to take it in before retiring, only basked a few minutes.

I suppose I did! Was admiring the bejeweled sky without really knowing what I was looking at, just knew it was gorgeous planetary and satellite awesomeness ;), Will look for it again tonight! <3

Wasn't it just out of this world, literally. I never tire of gazing at her beauty and to see Jupiter was an added bonus, though sadly in the UK Saturn was not visible. Could you see Saturn Mo? Apparently they made a triangle in the sky. So glad you enjoyed my write. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

The beautiful heavens a joy to see Ann, and I love to see the space station going over. Only yesterday I renewed my app with Nasa and every time it goes over I get an alert, Missed this mornings pass, didn't wake until 07.00, it was long gone lol. Hope you're well Tom
