Thoughts On This Remembrance Day

Thoughts on this Remembrance Day. I stood out on our veranda, Just admiring the view. The clock then stuck eleven My thoughts, they drifted to you. I don't know who you are friend, You're laid down on some battlefield, Maybe where the poppies grow. You gave your all for me that day, I will not let you just drift away. So here I stand, grit in my eye, I see men marching across the sky. Onward and upward to their reward, You will all live on you have my word. © Dave Timperley 11/11/2021
