Thoughts On a Train
Thoughts on a train . . .
I suppose one begins at the beginning in order to understand the present unless, of course, there is nothing to be understood . . . there is just the present, and that is all that matters.
Beginning is such a strong word—one that requires us to examine the root of something to revisit what need not be unduly disturbed only to be put to rest again.
The beginning brought us to the present that chooses “future” on the menu of time.
The beginning was imperfect and succumbed to what the present is, and what will become the future.
The present sustains itself—self-fulfilling—in anticipation for the future.
I choose the present, having left the beginning behind.
