Thoughts On a Cloudy Night
When the milky fog of clouds darkens, almost disappearing
And the moon glares down, its white blank face leering
I sit in the crisp green grass
Whose dew has turned to shards of diamond glass
The stars obscured by giant's breath
And the sky dims as dark as death
My thoughts dim, wandering and flitting from star to star
And pounce on moons like a jaguar
On planet's rings my thoughts flip and sing
My mind knowing these things behind the clouds are hiding
My fingers clench and sift through the damp earth below
As my eyes and face upturned in the moon's faint glow
The wind races around, ruffling my hair and beating my face
My body on the ground but my dreams in deep space
In the darkness, my dreams on a cloudy night
Mirror and make its very own light
