Thoughts of Those Better Men Have Gone Away

I thought of dying and dying young

Set the funeral up for dawn

Vultures flying around my brain

Trying to pry out what it may contain

A couple memories of who I was

Then turn to dirt and turn to dust

Watch the rain wash the rest away

Life you know just goes and goes

Those few mistakes that took their hold of

Every after thought you had

A calendar you can't turn back

As I let time brittle my bones

I'll see no king upon his throne

And one by one you take your leave

A sinking feeling on repeat.

Well written with a gentle flow and superb rhyming... powerful phrases too, and vibrant imagery. '...a calendar you can't turn back.' '...I'll see no king upon his throne,' superb phrasing! Well done my friend!! Best wishes, Keith
