Thoughts Drifting Into Night's Allure
A cool breeze taunts the open window
teases the hairs on my arms
curbs the fervor of my delusions
riffles through my insanity
cajoles me into a distant gaze
thoughts drifting into night’s allure.
“Would we be loveless without that moon?”
deprived of its slow motion wink.
“Is a possum just a beaver that doesn’t give a dam?”
“I wonder if my cat ever thinks of me?”
It haunts me still – that moment
when a midnight breeze
blew her hair across her face.
