Those Were the Days

Life was filled with wonderful things,
and trusting others came easily.

There was time to love and care
and enough time to stand and stare,
There was no past to reminisce about
and no future to fret about,
We lived then in the present
and lived by the day.
There were no promises to keep
no goals to reach
And no dreams to dream;

Life then was easy to live.

There was no need to fear
and no need to hate,
There was no room for tears
and we had faith in our fate.
There was no need to worry
and no need to hurry,
No turmoil big enough to frustrate life
and there was more fun than strife

And it felt good just to be alive!
