Those School Days

I think of days when I was young
Drinking in my school days fun
When playtime it would come around
Oh, so many friends I found

Then off I'd go to learn some more
Sometimes it really became a bore
I knew I had to learn their stuff
Though many times it could be tough

Reading, writing and arithmetic
Soon my mind began to tick
I did learn it all at last
Though my mind was not too fast

When time came to leave that school
Although I thought it was quite cool
It was so nice being free
And really, I liked to earn the money

How easy it is to slip back into tomorrow and remember school days and friends. Your poem helps the mind to wander back into those very important days. Your words are full with memories that so many can relate to. Good one!

Vera: I've written often, that my writing would probably be much better if my school days would have been better spent. :o) Little did I know at the time. Thanks for sharing this "glimpse back". Keep them coming. oldbuck

Well old Buck, I enjoyed my school years as I went to a country school and I left when I was 15 as I had a job in an office waiting for me, I was one of the lucky ones, Thank you for this lovely comment and take care.......Vera

This was fun to read this morning Vera. I remember those days well and I could wait until the day when they ended, being free, no more school, making money but...no one told me I'd have to work for the rest of my life, maybe I'd rather be back in school again. :) Nicely done.

Many are those who don't like going to school, Vera, but in the long run people realize how important education is! Regards // paul

oh I totally agree Paul, to be honest with you I did love my school years, only thing I didn't like was the sport, I hated it, also being in a country school was good, also I think these days the kids certainly need school or else they will never get anywhere, anyway thank you so much for your comment Paul and regards to the family.........Vera
