Those Rebel Poets

Remember all those rebel poets
    and their bizarre ways
How they spooked their stodgy elders
    with contra-poetic displays

Dispensing with meter and flow, accent and rhyme
    penning metaphor-less, image-free lines
Treating verse as a curse and a sonnet much worse
    vulgarities popping up like landmines..

Well, it's gotten worse instead of better

This is fun to read " Treating verse as a curse and a sonnet much worse" and truthfully, I can barely imagine what Coleridge, Poe and Wadsworth would think of "poetry" today.

I don't know when penning a rhyming poem became a thing to scorn but I love me some iambic pentameter :)

A blank page is waiting for a consummate poet. I have been staring at a blank page, waiting for the letters to fill it for hours this afternoon.

Who's gonna win that staring contest, you or the blank screen?! Keep me posted. ~ Scholarship Committee
