Those Eternal Years
Now that I am older I've shed so many tears,
When thinking of those younger times, and of the passing years.
I can't begin to understand where all the time has gone,
And for reasons I can't explain, I feel so all alone.
Why do you think the memories, will not let me go?
Is there an answer one can give, does anybody know?
And of those tears I cannot say why they flow and flow.
I want to go where memories are, but their reply is no.
No, you cannot come to us, the time is not yet right,
But when it's time to join us, we'll guide you in your flight.
And bear you up with Autumn winds where memories always live, enjoying friends forever, with all that youth did give.
And on those frosty mornings, when light is not yet nigh, you'll hear the call of flying geese across a moonlit sky.
You'll know that it's forever, where loved ones never
leave, where life is far, far grander than any could conceive.
So now as you are older, you'll learn to live with tears,
looking toward the time they dry, in those eternal years.
