High snowbanks surround
Slush puddles frozen on street
Seagull atop pole.

The seagull is already determined to take off. A moment of silence before that. From this poem I feel the severe cold of winter and feel the vitality of creatures. I love this poem very much.

How ironic it must be to see a seagull (to me a symbol of warm weather and summer) on a pole over the snow banks. You did a wonderful job describing the view from your window, Carol. Michael's contest is allowing us to get to know other poets better by seeing their surroundings through their eyes. Wishing you success in the contest! Love, Carolyn
