This Tree of Life

This Tree I see alone in a field, It's roots deep into the soul, Of mother earth. The history that spans over, A hundred years, the secrets it holds, That shall forever be silent. The branches strong that, Held glimpses of a young land. The stories it tells of the, Families and their legacies. The blood of these branches, Is a witness to the land rushes, Slavery, wars, and the, Salem witch trials. The atrocities that mankind, Has forever etched in this land. Yet it stands alone witnessing life, and death that will forever, Live deep in the roots in this tree of life.
