This Tree

this tree
stands so tall
he has seen too much

or maybe

he has missed out on it all
freezing
all alone
in the snow
too distracted by
discomfort
to know

to see

you and I
lying to ourselves
and to each other
sitting underneath
his shade
in the snow

a separation
exists

between our lies and
gray skys
