This Too

This too,
                                 Shall pass
                                       Nothing here
                                               On Earth
                                                     Will ever last
                          This too;
                                  An infants
                                              Fretful,
                                                      colicky
                                                               tears,
                          This too;
                                The confusing
                                            Frightful
                                                    teenage
                                                              years.
                          This too;
                                 broken health
                                             Life's
                                                    ebbing
                                                             breath
                          This too;
                                 tears,
                                       and sorrow
                                                    chains
                                                           of death

                                           Shall Pass

Thank you so much SILPIKA, I love hearing from you! Even your beautiful comment is poetic. I'm sorry I am getting back to you so late. I got sick, but hopefully my illness is passing. Getting back on here is such a blessing to be greeted with sweet comments. God bless you, and keep you safe and healthy!

I'm reminded by your poem's structure and theme, BJ, of Henry Twells' poem "Time's Paces" - one of my favourite poems. Yours, too is a really heartfelt poem with great meaning attached. Loved it. Cheers Gary

I am so very honored, thank you so very much Gary! I typed Twells' poem, and I am truly awed that my poem can be so compared to his. You have lifted my heart more than you can even imagine. I became ill, and it has been a pretty dreary time of late, and your comment lifts me to elation! I hope you are doing well. Again, thank you so very much for entering your amazing poem in the contest. I absolutely loved it! Stay safe, and healthy. I hope your Christmas season is going well!

Thank you, Harry, I'm so glad you liked this poem. I am sorry I am getting back to your comment so late! I was so busy getting ready for the Thanksgiving celebration, and beginning Christmas preparations, and then got sick! This poem actually came back to me as we were battling the horrid covid virus! On the mend now, but it is indeed awful, awful, awful. I can only hope it totally passes soon! It is so good to receive your kind comment now. I loved your train poem by the way!

This is exactly what I needed to read! I am currently fighting stress among other things and your words "this too shall pass" are so true. Events in ours lives can be tough at times but they do pass. A wonderful poem BJ. I will re read your poem to remind myself that what I am going through will pass. Cheers Anne :-)

Oh Kim, my heart goes out to you sweetheart. I'm glad this poem blessed you in this difficult time. I lost my dad thirty-three years ago, and I still miss him. My mom passed away eight years ago. It is a comfort to me to know though they are absent from the body, they are present with the Lord. The resurrection will one day come, and what a glorious day that will be! God bless you sweet Kim <3

Thank you for stopping by and for your always appreciated encouraging comments Gordon. Yes, nothing here on earth will last. I miss my babies when they were tiny. If I could go back and hld them even in the colicky moments, to cradle them, rock them, comfort them, I would in a heartbeat. The teen years pass quickly, and life just keeps flowing to eternity. Embracing the precious in the midst of the storms is a gift in this earth. It's sort of bitter sweet. I'm too nostalgic sometimes.
