This Time She Was Quiet
most of the time she’s animated,
hands and arms flailing
talking constantly and loudly
maybe a little paranoid
“everyone’s out to get me”
she will explode
with little provocation
but that day,
that day she was quiet
no one questioned why
it was as though everyone
was relieved the noise
and drama had subsided
she sat, staring, calm
normal for most people
but it wasn’t normal
where’s the wide eyes
where’s the panic
vitriolic attacks
she seemed at peace
like she found the answer
no one saw her leave
no one saw her again
