This Stupid Heart
(The disappoinment of a Sugar-Dad)
You said you’re shy but just tried the guts
As you need some aid for this and that.
If I should give in don’t think you’re smart,
But because you’re dear to this stupid heart.
The melodramas and pity claims;
I have the feel for those lousy schemes.
I’ve known the motives in your every plea
Because I was not born just yesterday.
You think am dumb but I’m not a fool;
Am not supposed to play this role.
The humiliation of doing so;
I just wonder if you can stand to it too.
I hear the laughter and the prejudice
Of my trying hard that you’d be pleased.
I am not apt for some return,
If you can’t thank at least don’t scorn.
The silent corner that I am staying in
Have known the pain I kept within.
I broke its silence with my big deep sigh
When I remember your blatant lies.
Though I have doubts if you’ll ever cry
To hear me gone or see me die.
But when love is real; though the soul is frail,
This stupid heart still wishes you well.

The day is hot and two women at their mid 30's took a shade in my shop. I just can hear what they were talking about. The one told the other how his old foreigner fiance would cry when she would threaten of leaving him if the latter would not provide her what she needed. My goodness.....
