This Silent Bloody History Song We Sing

A ghostly light smudged on the glass This familiar sight, alone at last! Though through it’s plight I heard my name This ghostly light is here again Soft movement caught my woken eye The memories lived of times gone by I heard it’s song of memories knew, I felt it’s presence of feelings few This ghostly light moved closer in, fear passed through my mind but here I’d always been The glass could capture the echoed past of pain and sorrow delivered to last I knew my name from way back then. I knew the sins committed would never mend So here I sat and waited for him to act or say, but all I saw was his disfigured face. Through his eyes of death no tears could fall. As he looked at me - his memories recalled. We sat in silence - these soldiers didn’t speak. We sat and heard our souls weep. This ghostly face then turned away. We sat in silence as nothing was worth to say. I killed him back then and all he knew. I drove the blade of sword through hearts of love because my king and country demand I do. But centuries on, so many lives I’ve lived. I’ve never slept a peaceful night since back then what I did. Now here tonight with no words to say we knew our bloody history would never go away.
