This Place Called Calvary
He has a name that is above all names!
He was given it and also earned it, you see!
There has never been another
ever quite like him,
because of what he did
for you and for me!
See, his Father did so, so love the world
that he was sent so that the blind could see!
His destiny was pre-ordained
from long, long ago,
"for this place that was called Calvary!"
Now in his time,
he did some strange things
that were considered quite miraculous and odd!
5000 people fed with bread and fish,
walking on water,
and saying he was...
the "Son of GOD???"
The people gathered round to hear his voice-
he could actually heal their infirmity!
But now others were threatened
and they plotted and schemed,
to take him to
"this place called Calvary!"
He once gave a sermon up on a mount,
he told people to "ask, seek and knock!"
It was as though he was
this truly caring, good Shepherd,
who had a deep, deep love for his flock!
The jealousies and whisperings,
oh, they were building-
they went into quite the frenzy!!!
The only way to put a stop
to all this madness,
was to take him to
"this place called Calvary!"
Now he said some things
that really stood out-
said he gave people the authority,
to "trample on snakes and scorpions"
and know the truths that would set them free!
But now the dark clouds were swirling about,
and something had to be done-
IMMEDIATELY!
"It's time, it's time, we must crucify him!!"-
lets take him to
"the place called Calvary!"
Innately he knew his time had come
and he obeyed the "Holy Spirit" deep within.
It was time for him to give his all,
and die to take away all our sin!
Like thieves in the night,
they arrested him!
He was beaten, spit upon and scourged!
A crown of thorns was placed on his head,
sadistic pleasure was on the plate
from which they gorged!
He was nailed to a cross,
crucified was he,
with two thieves,
one to his left and to his right!
He told Dysmas to his right,
"Today you'll be with me in Paradise!"-
then he took his last breath in the night!
Unbeknownst....
three days later he returned to life!!!
He reappeared to followers
and to those whom he loved!
It now had become quite clear to them-
he really was sent here from above!!!
He then ascended,
as was the "Divine Plan",
to his Father,
who was quite pleased with he!
He obeyed and did what had to be done,
at "this place called Calvary!"
