This Pain

"Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?" (Psalm 56:8, KJV) Tears came to my heart and seeped into my life Yes, this disease destroys, sends the worst strife Tears fell to reveal in me, a heart so blue If I only knew how to make things right for you Tears became my best friend, the lonely ache Promising to accompany me though others forsake Tears calm my worst fears, tender and pure Revealing the light’s soft glow, so alive and sure Tears tremble against my cheek, a lonely trail I know this dark disease, this cancer can’t prevail Tears fall soft against a soul who believes Whatever comes, He assures and never grieves Tears remind my soul that there is time to seek The wisdom of a Father who is strong when I’m weak Tears tell the world my story, and it is one of grief But I know the One whose glory brings my soul relief Tears fall when I think of what this cancer is saying And I listen to my Savior as my heart keeps praying Tears are bottled up – that is what someone told me Saved by the hand of God whose love set me free Tears came to pour out the feelings that I know Were meant to reveal my heart’s soft flow Tears remind me that I love with a heart He gave When He changed my world – this sinner He did save Tears are only glimpses into the affection that I feel Oh, my precious Savior, how I wish this pain wasn’t real
