This Old Castle

This Old Castle

This old castle, groans under the bright sky
stones weeping from blood soaked in long ago.
Granite walls and invaders to deny,
forced entry or even catapult throw!

This old castle, dark nights music creeps out
sad songs tell of blood and decaying bones.
Many say ghosts scream and float all about
whispered curses in agonized low tones!

This old castle, fortress to protect life
boiling oil poured on attackers below.
Death, sad pain washed in misery and strife
war the worst kind of dark and bloody show!

Old castle quietly guards its sad tales.
Yet often, one hears those sad midnight wails.

I would have liked to be a poor knight Of your old Castle to watch each night And let enter at first only a lonely dove To change it palace with power of love.
