This Language We Love
I'm laughing that "laughter"
does not rhyme with "daughter",
yet "fodder" (not "later")
rhymes nicely with "water"?
It bothers me "bothers"
does not rhyme with "brothers"
If I had my druthers
they'd both rhyme with "mothers".
It's weird, is it not -
"cough" does not rhyme with "dough"?
But I cough (just a little)
that "throw" rhymes with "though".
This language we love,
drenched in deep mystery...
therein lies the romance -
the surprise is the quay!
