This Is Only A Test

We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard. ~President John F. Kennedy, 1962

Don't you just hate that weekly test
When it interrupts the morning broadcast?

It advises me in the event it is real
Stay tuned for further information what to do!

Yeah right because if the bomb is falling
I'll be heading out back to our fallout shelter.

Dad put it in way back in the day
When Russia was doing its thing down in Cuba.

We had no inkling it wouldn't come true.
We had no idea Kennedy would be killed.

We didn't know he wouldn't live to see his dream
Of those men walking upon the moon.

A good poem on a historic era. I like the message.
