This Is Me
One day
I picked up a pen and pad
Quickly jotted down
All that was in my head
Words began to go
Rhymes started to flow
That's when poetry began for me
16 years old
Words,
Ideas,
The pen became the birth of me
Inside
Full of pride
This is me
This is what l know
Sadness, sorrow
Pride and joy
My writing expressed it
When I was mad or sad
Whether I like it or not
My words compressed it
Steps moving forward
The feelings
Teach me to speak
Out loud
Never hide
Teach me how to live here
Ideas take me to another world
With this paper & pen
Writing takes me deep
This is me
