Notes About The Poem

This Is Just a Dream

I play my part well, I am fine REALLY,
No one meeting me would guess the pain I keep;
    I will deny it,
       I am just fine.
But, I live in a world of long ago- the  p a s t,
because that is where I was the happiest;
before the deaths, before my heart broke,
    I linger in childhood.
        I DENY the truth to myself,
             they are not  d e a d;
                   this is just a dream.
Soon, I will wake up from this bad dream,
and my husband will be smiling at me;
      my baby boy will be in my arms,
mother and father . . . NOT names engraved.
I dwell in a foggy world under a forever umbrella,
                   in my eternal denial . . .

This is a great write Constance, very emotive and dripping with pain and scars. You express it beautifully. Blessings Carl

Yes, you are just so passionate--even in sorrow. Yet your expression is beautiful and touching to my soul for some reason. Hurt is tough to bear, and so it all you share. You have brought something very special to this space.
