This is for her
(Love and light on frozen islands)

So long ago 
Picture of my youth
That enchanted little angel 
The girl who skated good

Becoming a professional 
Skating on the world stage
Graceful and delightful 
No thought of impending age

I took it all for granted 
Unintentionally but true
Time and circumstances bled
I had lost my muse

And now that I am older
Perhaps wiser with this age 
I embrace these special moments 
Skating across the frozen lake 

I may still seem amazing 
To the normal person out there 
They didn't know me in my heyday 
They didn't know about my flare

But it's not for them I do this
Gliding and swirling with joy
This is for her - it's all for her
That young girl who lost her voice 

She who lost her reasons
She who lost her rhymes
She who seemed to lose everything 
She who tried to never mind 

Oh yes, so long ago 
That picture of my youth
An enchanted little angel 
The girl who skated good

I do it for her
To show her the fun of it all
Because magic is all around us
And within us; even if we fall

This is for her
The healed body and heart decide
This is always for her
Love and light on frozen islands
