This Heart of Mine

This, this heart of mine can feel
Can heal in time
Let's rewind
Play back to the beginning
Remembering who we used to be
Remembering who we were
Listening to the Black Hearts
Venting about the heart-ache

This, this heart of mine can shield
Can shield me from the flaming arrows
Of voiceless sparrows
Crows lurk
Perched outside my soul
Waiting for me to call surrender
Waiting for me to fall apart

This, this heart of mine is a deep ocean
No one can share my joys
No one can understand my struggles
For I am a well in an unknown land
No one can know me truly
For this, this heart of mine is mine
And no one else's.

Third stanza fifth line is my favorite. Do we ever really know another person. Keep writing. Sara
