This Heart

To think
a thought
would generate
another, which
in turn
would
cause my heart

to bleed

to shame
to shame

to blame
to blame

this heart
which knows
not

how to heal
itself

but slows
its pain
to drip one
drop
at a time

to drain
to drain

the strain
the strain

of each
lesson
of life
