This Guy I Know
This guy has a storied history.
He's got something about him;
not trying to impress,
you just knew he wasn't kidding you.
He could make your mind sail away
to far off exotic places, which he then wrote books about.
Only I knew that he had not left his home town
ever,
yet nevertheless I still believed
in his persuasive powers.
He got hitched to a barmaid,
declaring her the most beautiful woman in England,
in fact she was rather plain and homely,
nevertheless, I became sort of jealous,
for I began to see her through his eyes.
I keep wanting him to speak of his latest conquest,
his accomplishments,
however he merely winks, saying:
"No one knows me, not even her, so don't ask,"
and I believe in him. No kidding.
