This Ancient Heart
POEM " ANCIENT HEART " by martin gedge
Tears will fall from aging eyes to drop into the sea
and turn to stone from the depths of Rome to the shores or Tripoli
and lights of fire to burn the skies above the fearing head
to draw the sword of every forge to pray upon the dead
a vast of men who shall defend to die before the god
to carve their name with burning flame into the great facade
for victory will not be won as worlds to fall from grace
til boats of fleet with runs of feet to render and erase
we seize the day as storms of grey will bleed into night
and drums will beat the dyer heat to swarm into the fight
they shall implore the ocean floor the roar its' heavens sake
to which it stands on broken hands to crumble in the wake
and do not spare for kind or care to light the given dark
it shall remain a brilliant stain to scorn the ancient heart
and left an eye to soar the sky of monumental stone
of once was born a breathing life is set to seat the throne...
