John Allen Poet I do not know?

This

Only if I knew 
that it would come to this 
you think i would have done the same 
you think i could seriously wish 

So if I knew 
that it would end like this 
would i follow through 
and miss my chance at bliss 

If you knew 
why couldn't you say 
you could have spared me this 
it could have been some other way 

So what 
the cards have all been played 
no matter what i knew then 
she would never have stayed 

I can't bleed for too much longer 
it all has to end 
it started with a single love 
one that now isn't even a friend 

if i had known 
would i have changed 
could i have done it 
is fate so estranged 

why do i do it 
is it for pleasure out of pain 
i always wonder this 
standing outside under the rain 

no matter what i could have done 
it all would come to this 
i lost her once and forever more 
gone before a final kiss 

sad stories are so many 
and happy ones too few 
still, was there hope 
if i had only knew 

so the curtain falls 
and i stand alone in the mist 
fallen to the sands of time 
I knew it would end like this
