Things Woods Should Know
Things Woods Should Know
Trees hang around like shady characters in the grove
An apple from one of them hit Newton on the head
He ate it then began to think
Things that woods should also know
Complicit with gravity, green with envy
Some trees fall on cars and homes
Commit awful crimes with twisters
Hurricanes are other cronies known to harm
Trees never move on their own
It takes more than one of them to make a forest
They never talk but whisper in the breeze
Branches, like misshaped fingers point
Hide with the leaves that fall from grace
Roots hold fast to dirt and soil
Don't want to fly off into outer space
While Earth is in rotation
Trees simply want to stay in place and grow
Make a home for birds and little creatures
Keep secrets only woods should know
