Thicker Skin

Weak
Brittle
snap in two
emotional
cry baby cry
no sun
just rain
dwelling on the pain
nobody hurts but me

I must be unique
but what I realized
is that I've yet to
reach my peak
I must gain understanding

with age I find
No one is without pain
I grow a thicker coat
with each rain
the cold won't last always
depression may simmer
at the surface
when you feel that
everything is hopeless
It's far from a diagnoses

Sometimes things change
friends may stray
families may break
but I must not break
with this thicker skin
I learned to love myself
in this skin.
No matter the circumstances

Yes mistakes happen
people hurt you
and tradgdies occur
But I won't let this pain
defer me from where
I need to be.
Which is happy.
